Austin Energy has released rate proposals for all customer classes to secure the utility's financial future and enable it to continue providing clean, affordable, reliable energy and excellent customer service. The utility seeks a 13 percent system-wide average rate increase, its first in 17 years. An assessment by utility staff, with the help of outside experts, over the past year shows that Austin Energy is under-recovering costs by about $132 million a year.
